Room 13's Blog
We're learning how to understand difficult texts in room 13. We tried out some active reading strategies like making connections and asking questions when we first read the ancient epic story of Gilgamesh. Then we re-read the story in small groups and made tableaus, which are still frames telling what is going on in one part of the story. Next we will re-tell the story to see if we were successful in making sense of this hard-to-understand texts.
In room 13, the students are learning about how static electricity works. We experimented with salt, pepper, hair, paper, tissue paper and other things we could find around the classroom. We learned that a balloon with no charge will be attracted to a negatively charged balloon. We also learned that two negatively charged balloons will repel each other
